Financial Aid Options Available

We proudly help Canadian students explore a variety of funding opportunities designed to make education more affordable. Our experienced advisors will help you determine your eligibility, complete applications, and access the financial support that best fits your needs.

Available funding options include:

1. Windmill Microlending

Are you a skilled immigrant or refugee looking for financial support? Windmill Microlending is a national charity that offers low-interest loans of up to $15,000 to help skilled immigrants and refugees in Canada succeed in their careers. These loans can be used to cover the costs of licensing, training, and much more. With flexible repayment options, these loans are designed to reduce financial stress and allow you to invest in your future. 

Who is Eligible

To be eligible for a Windmill loan, you must:

  • Be an immigrant and an internationally-trained individual living in Canada on a permanent status.
  • Be a provincial nominee who has applied for permanent status (proof required) OR refugee with a Notice of Decision (Notice of Decision Letter).
  • Have completed post-secondary education outside of Canada and/or have a minimum of one year of post-secondary work experience before coming to Canada.
  • Demonstrate that you have a Career Success Plan that requires funding.
  • Not have an undischarged bankruptcy or a consumer proposal that has been active for less than 6 months.

2. Better Jobs Ontario

Looking to start a new career or upgrade your skills? Better Jobs Ontario is a government-funded program that helps eligible Ontarians gain the education and training needed for high-demand careers.

Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, the program provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of training, making it easier for you to achieve your career goals without the burden of financial stress.

What Can Better Jobs Ontario Cover?

If you qualify, you may receive funding for some or all of the following:

  • Tuition and compulsory fees
  • Books and learning materials
  • Living expenses
  • Childcare and dependent care
  • Transportation and travel costs
  • Disability-related supports
  • Other approved training and living expenses

Eligible applicants may receive up to $28,000 or more, depending on their individual circumstances and assessed needs.

Who May Be Eligible?

You may qualify if you:

  • Have been laid off and are currently unemployed.
  • Have been laid off and are working only a temporary or part-time job to make ends meet.
  • Have been unemployed for 12 weeks or longer and are part of a low-income household.

You may also be eligible if you are receiving:

  • Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Ontario Works (OW)
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

All applicants must complete an assessment through an Employment Ontario service provider to determine eligibility for Better Jobs Ontario and other available government funding programs.
